Preliminary Report on NRC Twin Otter Operations in the Southern Great Plains : J. Macpherson. From June 18 to Jthe NRC Twin Otter atmospheric research aircraft was operated from Oklahoma City, U.S.A., in the Southern Great Plains (SGP97) Hydrology Experiment.
The primary role of the aircraft was to measure the vertical fluxes of sensible and latent heat, CO2, ozone and momentum in the atmospheric boundary layer, along with supporting meteorological and radiometric Author: J.
Ian MacPherson. The primary objective of the Southern Great Plains (SGP97) Experiment is to map soil moisture using an airborne passive microwave radiometer (ESTAR, LeVine et al., ) over a 60 km by km area in central Oklahoma for a one month period during the summer of (Jackson, ).

These NRC radioactive effluent summary reports are generated on an annual basis and contain a description of radioactive effluent controls in nuclear power plants. The reports provide both a narrative description and many graphs and tables which allow the reader to quickly characterize the radioactive effluents from any commercial nuclear power.

It represents the second of two volumes of the Fourth National Climate Assessment, mandated by the Global Change Research Act of besides the Southern Great Plains, the Northern Great Plains has the highest emission rates.
GIS data bases exist at Texas Tech University for the Southern Great Plains and for other portions of the High Plains with the Playa Lakes Joint Venture. Andy Bishop will prepare a more extensive GIS source for the High Plains region that will be used to select study playas for the upcoming evaluation.

The people of the Great Plains historically have adapted to this challenging climate. Although projections suggest more frequent and more intense droughts, severe rainfall events, and heat waves, communities and individuals can reduce vulnerabilities through the use of new technologies, community-driven policies, and the judicious use of resources.
Prepared for the National Climate Assessment and a landmark study in terms of its breadth and depth of coverage, Great Plains Technical Input Report is the result of a collaboration among numerous local, state, federal, and nongovernmental agencies to develop a comprehensive, state of the art look at the effects of climate change on the eight states that encompass the Great Plains region.

The plains came to be known as a vast, dry, sterile, treeless expanse; Stephen Long’s map of the region referred to it as the “Great Desert.” In his report accompanying the map, Long stated, “I do not hesitate in giving the opinion. The Northern Plains has experienced increased weather variability and climatic changes throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries.
The NPCH Vulnerability Assessment of Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies assessment presents observed changes, such as increased length of frost-free seasons, which pose.
